80% of PS4 Owners Have Not Played Uncharted

Developer Naughty Dog has said the success of remastered titles such as The Last of Us and the newly released Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is partly due to the large portion of players who did not own or play the games on Playstation 3.

Speaking to MCV UK about this audience Naughty Dog’s Community Strategist, Eric Monacelli said:

We did a lot of research and discovered that about 80 per cent of the people that own a PS4 have never played Uncharted, period. That was one of the reasons why we thought remastering it would be a good idea.

The large percentage of players may come as a surprise to some and Monacelli has high expectations Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will be a success among PS4 owners:

Company-wide, our studio loves it. They set the bar at [the studio porting the games to PS4] Bluepoint and did a really good job with everything – adding new features and making sure that everything looks good. So, yeah, our expectations are high for it. We hope it does quite well.

On the horizon for the developer is the final installment in the series, Uncharted 4 which was recently delayed and is now due for release on March 18th, 2016.
