Assassin’s Creed TV Series Confirmed As Anime

The Assassin’s Creed TV series previously announced by Ubisoft has been confirmed as an anime by one of the show’s producers.

In a Facebook post the show’s producer, Adi Shankar revealed that he was working on the project and that the series would be an anime:

“I’m happy to let you guys know that I’ve selected my next project! I played the first edition of Assassin’s Creed the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream.

“At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of Assassin’s Creed and create an original story set in it as an anime series.”

There are no further details currently on the characters or setting but the TV series marks another extension of the popular franchise after a feature film starring Michael Fassbender last year and various books and comics.

Shankar has some experience making content based on gaming properties with his current project being the Netflix-based animated series Castlevania which is being released this week.

Assassin’s Creed first debuted in 2007 and has since gone on to be a huge success for Ubisoft.

Next up on the release calendar for Assassin’s Creed is Assassin’s Creed Origins which is attempting to reinvigorate the franchise after Ubisoft gave the series a year off and will mark the tenth game in the series.

Ubisoft hasn’t shied away from giving Assassin’s Creed exposure to different artistic styles and formats before including the recently announced Assassin’s Creed Rebellion – a Fallout Shelter-style game for iOS and Android.

What do you think of Assassin’s Creed entering the genre of anime? Are you excited to see more of Shanker’s work?
