Mass Effect Andromeda Developer Bioware Montreal to Merge with EA Motive
Bioware Montreal to Merge with Fellow EA Studio Motive
Bioware Montreal, the development studio behind Mass Effect: Andromeda, is officially being incorporated into another development team, EA Motive.
The news comes after reports claimed that the Mass Effect series has been put on hold for the time being after the underwhelming response to Andromeda.
In a response to IGN, EA confirmed the decision via this statement:
“The teams in EA Worldwide Studios are packed with talent, and more than ever, we’re driving collaboration between studios on key projects.
“With multiple major projects in development in Montreal, we are merging BioWare Montreal with Motive Studios. This is an ongoing process, but there are many exciting roles and opportunities for everyone on the team.”
This makes quite a lot of business since the studio and EA Motive are both based in Montreal and after Mass Effect Andromeda was released much of the development team transitioned away to assist with work on the upcoming Anthem.
Meanwhile last month project director on the Mass Effect trilogy Casey Hudson returned to Bioware as general manager taking over from Aaryn Flynn.
EA motive are currently assisting on development of Star Wars Battlefront II and are also working on their own third-person Star Wars game.
