Deadpool Sequel Reportedly Greenlit

Deadpool Sequel Reportedly Greenlit

It seems a Deadpool sequel is already in the works and has reportedly been greenlit.

The news comes via The Hollywood Reporter who report that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick who wrote the first film have returned to pen a sequel.

Deadpool director Tim Miller has not yet signed on to the sequel but Fox is reportedly keen on keeping the creative team together.

The news comes as Deadpool tracks to open this weekend at around $65 million over a four-day holiday weekend.

Ryan Reynolds, who plays the foul mouthed anti-hero, stated in an interview with FILMSTARTS his desire to see more X-Men introduced in the Deadpool movies, particularly X-Force which he described as a ‘priority’.

X-Force is a superhero team that spun out of the New Mutants comic to have its own run of comics and is led by half-mutant, half-cyborg Cable with his team being typically more aggressive and violent than the regular X-Men.

In the comics, Cable is also the future son of X-Men member Cyclops who will be played Tye Sheridan in the upcoming X-Men Apocalypse.
