Gwent: The Witcher Card Game Closed Beta Launches
Gwent: Card Game Popularized by The Witcher 3 Enters Closed Beta
CD Projekt RED have announced that Gwent has entered its closed beta.
The card game was originally featured in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and quickly became a fan favourite.
The mini-game was so popular it is now receiving a standalone title.
Senior Community Coordinator at CD Projekt RED, Marcin Momot said:
“Gwent is an example of how the community can have actual impact on game developers.
“What we created as a part of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is now, because of your involvement, a standalone game and a totally different experience that firmly stands on its own.
“The Closed Beta is another step in the process – you can now help us shape the game into something you can call your own.”
The beta is available on PC and Xbox One but will be coming to Playstation 4 later. Gamers who signed up for the beta should expect to receive invites from now.
Players still have a chance to get involved in the beta at playgwent.com.
According to the site, the closed beta is to finish roughly in Spring 2017 and the studio hopes to add more cards, features and game modes as development progresses.
CD Projekt RED was founded in 2002 and its flagship franchise, The Witcher has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide.
The studio is currently developing CyberPunk 2077, an open-world futuristic RPG based on the role-playing game Cyberpunk 2020.
There is no release date for the studio’s next big project but we do know that the studio has a larger team than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
