A Look at Injustice 2’s Character Customization

A Look at Injustice 2’s Character Customization

At the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, Injustice 2 was available for a hands-on demo and there the new character customization was shown off.

There are two ways to earn gear in Injustice 2, by defeating opponents online and offline or using gold earned from matches to purchase Mother Boxes. There are five gear types: head, chest, arms, legs and an accessory to customise your DC characters with. Much of this gear is based around buffing one of four main stats such as Strength and Agility which determine how much damage your moves do and Defense and Health which calculate how much damage you can take.

This in-depth RPG-like approach to gear and customisation isn’t something typically seen in fighting games but if you don’t want to go up against customized opponents there will be a tournament mode in the game that reverts all characters to their base builds while maintaining their visual changes.

Full gear sets such as Batman’s kryptonite infused outfit offer greater bonuses and higher tier items have augmentations which can give you some resistance to certain attacks or a boost to your XP.

Players can further customize their characters with loadouts allowing you to bolster a particular skill as it relates to a character.

Finally, as you would expect there are cosmetic changes to be made to your fighter including different colour schemes.

Warner Bros. recently announced several new additions to the game including Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Cheetah and Doctor Fate.

NetherRealm Studios’ Injustice 2 comes out on May 16th later this year.
