Marvel Collaboration With Fox an ‘Impossibility’
Marvel Collaboration with Fox an ‘Impossibility’
According to Marvel Studios President, Kevin Feige any Marvel collaboration with Fox would be an ‘impossibility.’
Speaking to Variety, Feige said the following when asked about any kind of partnership between Marvel Studios and Fox:
“It’s an impossibility at this juncture. We certainly have enough films to keep us busy for a number of lifetimes.”
Marvel Studios certainly has a busy schedule over the next few years with the Marvel Cinematic Universe showing no signs of slowing down.
Three movies per year are planned for 2017 and 2018 with next year’s including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.
In 2018, the slate includes Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Fans of the Marvel comics would certainly like to see characters from the X-Men series and the Fantastic Four join the Marvel Cinematic Universe but it seems unlikely to happen any time soon as it has done with Sony and Spider-Man.
When asked how Spider-Man: Homecoming would be different from previous incarnations, Feige said:
“It takes place inside the cinematic universe that we have built across 14 films. In the previous films, Spider-Man was the only superhero who existed in that world.
“In the film, he’s a young kid who has to be home at curfew so his Aunt May doesn’t get worried, and go to school, and do his homework. That’s in contrast to Tony Stark’s life or Stephen Strange’s.”
The future of Fox’s X-Men universe is currently uncertain with departing directors, declining ticket sales for the mainline X-Men movies and an unclear creative direction leading to speculation about a Marvel collaboration with Fox.
