Nintendo Switch Sells Over 4 Million Units

Nintendo Switch Hardware and Software Selling Well

In its latest earnings report, Nintendo has reported strong sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Japanese publisher is in profit.

Since the Nintendo Switch’s release in March, Nintendo reports that they have sold 4.7 million units with 1.97 million of those units being sold over the last financial quarter.

On the software side of things, the earnings report also details a high attachment rate of users with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe having sold 3.54 million units meaning around three quarters of Switch players have bought the game.

Meanwhile, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild continues to sell well now reaching a cumulative total of 3.92 million units sold.


The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been a hit commercially and critically for Nintendo.

Overall, it’s good news for Nintendo as they made a profit of roughly £140 million in the quarter detailed, a 149% increase over the same time frame last year.

Looking at the year ahead, Nintendo fans have Super Mario Odyssey to look forward to in October and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon for the 3DS.
