Playstation VR Given Release Date and Price

Playstation VR has been given a release date and a price at GDC 2016 (Game Developers Conference) yesterday.

The hardware will be available for £349.99/€399.99 in the UK and Europe and for $399 in the U.S from October this year.

You can take a look at what’s included for that price below:

The hardware includes: Playstation VR headset, Processor Unit, Stereo earbuds, HDMI cable, USB cable, AC adapter and power cord and a PS VR Connection adapter.

A noticeable absence from the package is the Playstation camera which is required to use the hardware.

The device is also compatible with Playstation Move but all titles can also utilize the Dualshock 4 included with every PS4.

Details were also given on the Playstation Blog where Andrew House stated:

“PlayStation VR represents a transformative experience in gaming, and we wanted to take the time needed to launch with a broad variety of content and a sufficient supply of hardware.

“We are beyond excited to deliver to consumers the amazing experience that PS VR offers.”

This announcement puts Playstation’s VR headset at a cheaper price than its competitors: Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

While the latter two headsets require a significantly powerful PC to run them, the Playstation VR requires the PS4 and a Playstation camera.
