SDCC 2015 Highlights

San Diego Comic Con came to a close last weekend and there has been lots of announcements and reveals about projects from the event. DC and Warner Bros made their presence felt with new trailers for both Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. There was also a significant TV presence for DC with a new suit for Arrow, multiple new characters confirmed for both Arrow and Flash and new teases for future DC properties making their way to TV. Apart from comic book properties there was new information about Star Wars Rogue One, Warcraft and The Walking Dead.


Warner Bros. Film

With Marvel Studios largely absent from Comic-Con this year it came as no surprise that DC and Warner Bros. stole all the headlines. Amongst their biggest announcements were new trailers for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad which you can check out below:



There are notable easter eggs and reveals in these trailers including our first idea of what Jared Leto’s Joker will be like and how the fight between Batman and Superman will develop.

In other Batman-related news, it seems Ben Affleck will direct, star in and co-write a solo Batman film with DC’s Geoff Johns. Reportedly this film would take place after the events of Batman vs Superman and Justice League: Part One. Also announced was an animated film of a key story in the Batman universe: The Killing Joke. In addition a new title was given to the Green Lantern film slated for 2020 which will now be called Green Lantern Corps.


Warner Bros. TV

A number of new announcements were made at the Warner Bros. TV panel. New characters were confirmed for The Flash including Jay Garrick who in the comics is the original Flash and who will be played by Teddy Sears in the show. According to CW the character will be:

“A mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop.”

Another character that has been teased is Wally West, who is another incarnation of the Flash. A new villain was also confirmed who is a major threat in the comics – Zoom.


Also in attendance at the panel was Arrow. A new suit was shown off by Stephen Amell which is reminiscent of the New 52 line of comics. It has also been teased that the character will finally become known as Green Arrow. New characters were also announced including Mr Terrific, Anarky as well as new villain Damien Dahrk, a character that was mentioned in Season 3 by Ra’s al Ghul.

Star Wars


The first Anthology film in the series titled Rogue One was revealed to be shooting soon while the second Anthology film was confirmed as a Han Solo film. One cast member who had their character revealed was Domhnall Gleeson who will play General Hux. Hux is in charge of Starkiller base, the command base for the First Order. He confirmed that his character is a villain. Also at the panel was a behind-the-scenes video which showed Simon Pegg in costume.


The Walking Dead

New trailers were shown for Season 6 of The Walking Dead and a first trailer for its spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead. You can check out the trailers below:


20th Century Fox

At the 20th Century Fox panel a trailer was shown for Deadpool which reportedly was very impressive. Unfortunately, at the time of writing an official version hasn’t been released online. In addition, we were given a first idea of what Apocalypse might look like in the upcoming X-Men film:


Hugh Jackman also stated that Wolverine 3 will be his last film as Wolverine and hinted that the film will tackle the Old Man Logan from the comic books.
