Sleeping Dogs Studio Closes Down
Sleeping Dogs Developer Shuts Down
United Front Games, the developer behind action adventure title Sleeping Dogs has closed down.
The news comes via Kotaku Australia who confirmed their story via a source from inside the studio.
The studio was founded in 2007 in Vancouver, Canada and consisted of former members of EA, Rockstar, Radical Entertainment and Volition Inc.
United Front Games developed titles such as ModNation Racers on PS3, Sleeping Dogs and spinoff Triad Wars.
The studio also worked with other developers on games such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection in collaboration with 343 Industries and the Xbox One version of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.
Triad Wars was an online MMO which utilised the original map from Sleeping Dogs and saw players rising to power as criminal kingpins.
The game was short-lived though with a beta in early 2015 followed by an announcement that the game would be shutting down in December of the same year.
More recently, the studio has been working on Smash + Grab, a multiplayer game in early access on Steam which was about gangs in a dystopian future fighting over loot.
The game has been out for a month but is no longer available for purchase.
There has been no official statement at the time of writing about the studio’s closure but this article will be updated if/when there is.
