Sony Shipped 8.4 Million PS4’s in Three Months
Sony Saw Profits Grow Over Christmas
Sony has released its financial results from October 2015 to December 2015, revealing that 8.4 million Playstation 4’s were shipped during this period.
The company as a whole generated $21.5 billion, roughly the same as it managed in 2014 and the company made $1 billion in net profit, an increase of 33% over 2014.
Consequently, the platform holder is maintaining its forecast to sell 17.5 million PS4’s by the end of the current fiscal year which ends in March.
The gaming and network sales division reported sales of $4.9 billion, a ten percent increase over the previous year.
In terms of game sales, 35 million copies of games were sold both physically and digitally over the holiday period.
In November last year, the company announced that worldwide sales of PS4 had surpassed $30 million.
This week the company also merged its Computer Entertainment and Network Entertainment divisions to create Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The move will bring all of Playstation’s various divisions such as hardware, software and network under one roof with Sony Interactive Entertainment being led by Andrew House, President and Global CEO.
House said the division would “remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences.”
